Erlend Skei is a freelance double bass player, living in Nittedal.
He has a master's degree in executive double bass and vocational teacher education from NTNU, Department of Music, where he had Stanislaw Kulhawczuk as his teacher. He has also studied for one year with Dan Styffe at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
As a freelancer, Erlend regularly works in the Oslo Philharmonic, the Broadcasting Orchestra, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, the Trondheim Soloists and the Staff Music. He was a permanent employee at the Opera in Kristiansund from 2003-2010. Erlend teaches double bass at Music at Majorstuen School, Barrat Due Music School, Nittedal String Orchestra and Hadeland String Orchestra. He has previously taught double bass at Trondheim Municipal School of Music and Culture (1999-2003), Kristiansund School of Culture and the music department at Atlanten v.g. school (2003-2009).
Erlend works actively with the recruitment of young double bass musicians, and is the initiator and leader of the Norwegian Double Bass Club, which was founded in the autumn of 2017.
