Chris Parkes is Solo Horn of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and has previously held positions in the Royal Philharmonic and London Philharmonic Orchestras. Alongside this position he regularly performs as principal horn with other orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony and Chamber Orchestra of Europe. He has regularly appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the London Symphony, Philharmonia, BBC Scottish, Royal Philharmonic and Swedish Radio Symphony. A keen chamber musician, he has performed with artists such as Anne Sofie von Otter and Pierre Laurent Aimard and recorded and performed with jazz musicians such as Gwilym Simcock and Nils Landgren and popular artists such as George Michael, Paul McCartney and Diana Ross. Chris studied at Chetham’s School of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he has now been teaching for 10 years. As well as playing, Chris has begun composing and arranging, especially for brass and percussion. His pieces have been performed on radio and television and some of them are decent
