Described in the press as “a tenor with a sparkling tone and radiant top notes”, Norwegian tenor Petter Moen has established himself as a singer equally at home in both opera and concert. After graduating from the Opera Academy in Copenhagen, he made his professional operatic debut with the Wermland Opera in Karlstad, Sweden, singing the role of Count Almaviva in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia directed by Tobias Kratzer.
Since then he has performed with the Norwegian National Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Händel-Festspiele Halle, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Oldenburgisches Staatstheather, Theater Chemnitz, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik and with orchestras such as NDR Radiophilharmonie, Arctic Philharmonic, Copenhagen Phil and the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra.
Recent engagements include the role of Jaquino in a new production of Beethoven's Fidelio at The Royal Danish Opera and Schumann's Dichterliebe at Fredriksten Operafestival.
Petter has sung a variety of opera roles both in the spiel and lyric tenor fach, such as Eurimaco in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria (Innsbrucker Festwochen), Scitalce in Semiramide Riconosciuta by Vinci (Händel[1]Festspiele Halle) the Novice in Britten's Billy Budd, Goro in Puccini´s Madama Butterfly, Remendado in Bizet's Carmen and Don Curzio in Le
Nozze di Figaro (The Norwegian National Opera), among many others.
The highlights of the season 2021/21 include Pluto in a new production of Offenbach's operetta Orpheus in the Underworld at The Norwegian National Opera, Mendelssohn's Elias in Oslo Cathedral, Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Norwegian Baroque Ensemble and Borg Domkor and Steuermann in Wagner's Die Fliegende Holländer with Opera Østfold. 2nd Jude in Salome at the Opera in Bergen with Edward Gardner conducting.
