Josef Wijk began to play the oboe at the age of 9 with Susanna Heinebäck in Örebro.
He has won a number of prices and awards in both national and international soloist competitions for young musicians, such as Öresund's soloist competition and in Stockholm International Music Competition where he won the first price both in 2021 and 2022.
Josef has been a solist with conductors such as Alexander Hanson, Mika Eichenholz and Rumon Gumba and has performed as a soloist twice in Sweden's biggest competition for young musicians, Polstjärnepriset where he performed Mozart's oboe concert in C major, 1st movement (2018) and Strauss' oboe concert i D major, 1st movement (2019) with Gothenburd Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed as a soloist with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra several times.
Josef is a regular substitute in many Swedish symphony orchestras, such as Gothenburd Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and has played with conductors like Herbert Blomstedt and Christoph Eschenbach.
He was the recipient of the ”Lilla kulturpriset till Hjalmar Bermans minne” in Örebro 2019 and in 2021 he received a scholarship from Den Nordiska Första S:t Johannislogens Jubelfond.
After studies with Mårten Larsson, solo oboist in Gothenburd Symphony Orchestram, Josef began his studies at the Haute École de Musique in Genève in 2022 for the world renowned oboist Alexei Ogrintchouk, solo oboist at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
