Papillon program 2024-2026!

Apply for Papillon program 2024-2026 for young professional musicians!

Application deadline: September 20, 2024

Papillon is a unique opportunity for the most advanced young classical instrumentalists aged 18-25. The program is open to applicants in strings, piano, wood winds, brass, percussion and harp. As a Papillon participant, you will have the chance to shape your own program in close collaboration with the festival's artistic director, Guro Kleven Hagen, and the academic director of the courses, Alf Richard Kraggerud.

The aim of the project and our vision is to provide young musicians with the best possible preparation for a professional career and to equip them for the challenges they will encounter in the life as a musician.

Participants will have the opportunity to perform on various concert stages, collaborate with outstanding artists during the festival, participate in masterclasses, and receive individual guidance and mentorship from experienced educators and musicians. We also organize lectures and discussions with professional musicians, agents, concert producers, and other relevant figures.

As part of the Papillon program, participants will join Talent Norge's network, an important arena for emerging artists across various genres.

The selected musicians will take on various roles during the Valdres Sommersymfoni, both as performers at the festivel and in collaboration with younger course participants.

Each autumn, a weekend seminar is arranged and particpants are invited to various events and meetings throughout the year as part of the individualized follow-up in the Papillon program.

Valdres Sommersymfoni covers all costs for food, travel and accomodation. We require all participants to travel in an environmental friendly manner (read more about our environmental policy here)

The Papillon program is at two-year commitment, but its contonuation is dependent on annual renewed support from Talent Norge.
